Perez Hilton

William Shakespeare notably remarked, "all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages." Yesterday, I met the Internet's #1 celebrity, Mario Lavandeira Jr. aka Perez Hilton. On average, Perez's site receives over 1.4 million visitors a month (according to compete.com). Yes, that's one large stage and impressive by any standards, especially for one person.

Part of Perez's success that he has turned the world into his own stage. His daily blog entries provide modern Shakespearean theater to his audience. He allows us to live vicariously through celebrities, which often reminds us that our own personal blunders are sometimes small in comparison.

Jim Morrison of The Doors once stated “expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.” Notably, Perez is able to find humor in others and most importantly himself. He has exposed himself to various fears and has truly let go of it.
