Mobile Marketing Association Forum: Los Angeles

Image
( Greg Stuart , Global CEO Mobile Marketing Association) ( Michael Becker , North America Managing Director Mobile Marketing Association) Last week, I attended the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) Forum at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. The Mobile Marketing Association is the premier global non-profit trade association established to lead the growth of mobile marketing and its associated technologies. The association has more than 700 member companies, representing over 40 countries from around the world. Five times a year, MMA industry leaders and partners meet in different global metropolitan cities to collaborate, discuss and share new mobile trends, strategies, and technologies. At this particular forum, we discussed effective communication strategies that brands, organizations, and marketers can leverage to connect with different consumer personas. Although SMS or text messaging is still the most pervasive mobile technology, new technologies, such as digimarcs , are g

What is a QR Code?

Image
( SeanTiner.com ) A QR Code is a matrix barcode or two-dimensional code, readable by QR scanners, mobile phones with a camera, and smartphones. The codes consist of black boxes arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded in the QR code can be a text message or website address. During the 1990s QR Codes became popular in Japan as a marketing media. For example, a print advertisment or billboard can a display a QR Code that sends users to a website with additional product information or a text message with a discount for the particular product, service, or brand. According to the Mobile Marketing Association the amount of smart phones in the United States is expected to reach 50% of the entire marketplace by Q3 2011 up from 20% today. As more U.S. consumers become familar with QR codes and have smart phones equipped with QR readers, I will explore how artists can incoporate them into various creative media to generate more of an interactive viewing experi

Image
As mobile phones continually become a vital communication channel to connect with a target audience, it's important for brands, organizations, and marketing managers to understand how to leverage this platform. This summer, I registered the Mobile Marketing Association's Certified Mobile Marketer Course . I'm excited that this weekend I successfully completed the program, passed the certification course and am officially a MMA Certified Mobile Marketer, Tier 1.

Crossfit

Image
( Crossfit.com ) I'm excited to be featured on Crossfit's main website today. According to Compete.com , the site averaged over 245 thousand unique visitors in July. This is an increase of 38.4% from February's traffic volume. The increase of site visitors is a reflection of the work out program's growing popularity.
