Present Diffent

Image
(Version 1 -Standard Graph Template) (Version 2 -Aesthetic Version) The two images tell the same story, but in different ways. The first image uses a standard, out-of-the-box graph to show how the iPhone market is predicted to grow overtime. It is an easy and boring approach to quickly share a fact. The second image tells the same fact, but in a creative way. Viewers can visually understand the trend without seeing a standard template. When you are presenting your next BIG idea, make sure to present it a little differently. It will allow you to engage your viewers and show that you are really presenting the next BIG idea and not some out-of-the-box concept.

Viva La Musica!

Image
(Coldplay, portrait by Tiner). Viva La Musica! Viva La Coldplay! With the music industry ailing in Web 2.0, Coldplay is the new harmonic elixir. The release of their latest CD, Viva La Vida , highlights the importance of integrating free content with new product distribution. The band strategically allowed fans to sample new songs on their website and then provided radio stations with the entire album. This all happened before the CD was released for purchase. What? Give away your product before the release date? This idea may even cause Ms. Jackson to have a wardrobe malfunction. However instead of being exposed, Coldplay sold over 300,000 Units on its release date and even surpassed Jack Johnson's record on Itunes for most songs downloaded in a single day. You mean people are willing to pay for content, after it is provided for free? I'm sorry, Ms. Jackson, but times have changed. Coldplay's distribution model highlights the importance of creating buzz via free content...

ADC Young Guns Competition

Last week, I entered The Art Director's Club International Young Guns Competition that is open to creative individuals under the age of 30 (I'm only 24) . The annual competition "exists to identify the vanguard of creative professionals who let loose their imaginations, shattering conventions and breaking boundaries with a dash of brilliance and personal flair. Those of you who’ve set your minds to making a name for yourself, raising new standards from within cubicles, conference rooms, cramped apartments, and studios across the world—this is your chance to put those battle cries in action. If you’re age thirty or under and have two years of the working life under your belt, we’d like you to show us what it’s all about." I included in my entry some of my recent national photo publications , upcoming 2009 calendar , surfboard designs, epic art public installations and a few stylized portraits . I look forward to the competition results that will be announced in a fe...

Quick Thoughts About The Current "Recession"

Over ten years ago, my hometown of Laguna Beach, CA had a tragic firestorm. Over 200 homes burned down, including my grandparent's house. It was really painful to watch and took several years to rebuild. However, the community found a way to survive and the town is now flourishing, stronger then ever. In the same way that the current "recession" is bringing hardships to families and businesses across the nation, America must find a way to survive. If I tell you a joke once and you laugh, I'm satisfied. If I tell you the same same joke tomorrow, I will not expect you to laugh as much. In the same way that you cannot repeat a joke and expect the same outcome, businesses must look for innovative ways to survive and rebuild from this economic "firestorm." New advertising messages and creative ways to market products will bring success for companies looking to "rebuild" from this economic downturn and survive.
