Supporting the Next Generation

Image
Honored to present the Mark Tiner Memorial Scholarship with my  family. This year, we recognized three hardworking graduates in my brother’s memory—students whose character and drive reflect the values he lived by. Over the last 20 years, I’m grateful we can continue Mark’s memory by supporting the next generation and sharing this special tradition with loved ones.

2021 Mark Tiner Memorial Scholarship

Memorial Day weekend is a time to reflect and remember our loved ones. This year, we remembered my brother by awarding a $2,000 memorial scholarship to a graduating senior from Laguna Beach High School. Additionally, he worked hard to support his family and volunteered throughout high school. Sometimes, we may put too much emphasis on certain quantitative criteria, such has having straight As or certain degrees. However, that may only tell part of a person’s story. This year’s recipient reinforced the joy in trying new challenges and how it’s important to recognize people’s courage, determination, and overall resilient...

I recently visited my high school alma matter and watched former Laguna Beach High School alumni play baseball against the current varsity team. About 10 alumni players, ranging from Chuck Harell '65 to Noah Brewtster '05, returned to the diamond to play ball. The current varsity team won 7 to 1. Below is a baseball hitting sequence series that I took of Chris Stansbury '03 with his brother Gabe '09, catching. The picture was published in The Laguna Beach Independent, Laguna's local paper.
