Perez Hilton: Forward Thinking




From providing daily celebrity gossip to freely speaking his mind, Perez Hilton aka Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. is constantly accelerating Internet traffic and probably stirring up your workplace conversation. His daily blog entries provide an insight into the strife and struggles of the rich and famous. Regardless of your opinion, it's amazing that according to Alexa his blog is the 142 most visited website in America (as of today). The put that ranking into perspective, lets look at other entertainment/celebrity affiliated websites:

The Hollywood Reporter's website is ranked 2015 in the United States.

Entertainment Tonight Online's website is ranked 2640 in the United States.

E Online's website is ranked 541 in the United States.

...And one man's blog is still ranked higher. Perez demonstrates that with enough forward thinking, determination, persistence and a little drama (although it's normally a lot), anyone can become well known and establish themselves as a popular figure in their field or industry.

Kudos to Perez for embracing the first amendment and utilizing the power of Web 2.0 to establish himself.

Last weekend, Matt Williams, a Texas Tech sophomore, won a month of free rent by kicking a 30-yard field goal during a contest at his school's football game. Although Texas Tech is currently ranked #8 in the country, the team has missed six extra point attempts and half of its field goal attempts. Following the contest, Mike Leach, Texas Tech's football coach, approached Williams and asked him to be the team's extra point kicker.
